My car insurance was set to increase to over $400/month. That's for a decade-old economy car. It's about the same as a payment on a new car.

So I dropped my comprehensive and collision coverage. That only dropped my premium to just under $300. For liability and uninsured motorist only. I'm looking for another insurance company now.

I constantly hear insurance horror stories about all types of insurance these days. So far as I've seen nobody is investigating what the hell's going on.

Why? My guess is that insurance companies are spreading around massive campaign contributions in this election year to keep Congress and regulators off their backs while they screw us consumers as hard as they dare.
