I have been wanting to visit Silver Springs for almost 2 years. Today was the day to go visit. It’s over an hour drive from Inverness.
It is the largest artesian spring in the world and the site of the oldest commercial tourist attraction in Florida, and was designated a National Natural Landmark in 1971. Its main features are the glass-bottom boat tours on the river, which have operated there, in various forms, since 1878.
There are several springs that feed into Silver Springs. The largest is called Mammoth Springs
Mammoth Spring is the largest, flowing at the first magnitude to form the headwaters of the Silver River. Mammoth Spring supplies about 50% of the entire flow of Silver River. Historically, Silver Springs had the highest average flow of any spring in the U.S. at more than 500 million gallons per day. It is about 65 feet deep.
Many movies and TV shows have been filmed at Silver Springs State Park in Florida, including Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954), Tarzan the Ape Man (1932), and Sea Hunt (1958). •

I will have less of a presence on The Torrid Tribe Community. We have very little activity here. This is a sign to me that members have found other social media resources that they are spending more time in. I am happy to see less censorship on social media in general. I started The Torrid Tribe 4 years ago when we were in a state of censorship and lockdowns. It was a difficult time and this was a haven and sanctuary for so many.
I will be lightly posting things here to give you all content to see. This community will always be open to everyone and will resurrect to its full capacity if subscribers show they want it fully operational again with full time administration.
