New Low Carbon Fuel Standard regulations - that were directed to be put in place by Governor Newsom - are expected to increase gas prices by 65 cents per gallon, according to a study by the Kleinman Center for Energy Policy at the University of Pennsylvania.
The study also says the price will increase another 85 cents per gallon by 2030 and an additional $1.50 per gallon by 2035.
Newsom wants to push California toward carbon neutrality and convert all vehicles to electric by 2035, a goal the state is currently not on track to meet.
Some say the price hike is a deliberate strategy to make gas so expensive that Californians are forced into electric vehicles (EVs)
Senator Brian Jones introduced Senate Bill 2 (SB 2) to repeal these new LCFS regulations and stop the 65-cent gas price increase - which gained significant support with residents, however the Democrat-controlled Senate Environmental Quality Committee blocked SB 2, preventing it from advancing.
California already suffers from existing high taxes, costly regulations, and market interference, and already has the highest gas prices in the nation—$1.55 per gallon more than the national average as of March 2025.
Historically, California has experienced rolling blackouts during times of strain on the power grid.
California’s goal to transition to electric vehicles (EVs) by 2035 is increasing electricity demand. The state aims for 60% EV adoption by 2030, which could significantly stress the grid.

I will have less of a presence on The Torrid Tribe Community. We have very little activity here. This is a sign to me that members have found other social media resources that they are spending more time in. I am happy to see less censorship on social media in general. I started The Torrid Tribe 4 years ago when we were in a state of censorship and lockdowns. It was a difficult time and this was a haven and sanctuary for so many.
I will be lightly posting things here to give you all content to see. This community will always be open to everyone and will resurrect to its full capacity if subscribers show they want it fully operational again with full time administration.
