The Gossips (1948) was painted by the American artist Norman Rockwell (1894-1978).
It shows 15 figures, each portrayed twice, as part of a chain receiving and passing on a tidbit of gossip. Each person represents a unique personality when it comes to gossiping, and Rockwell captures each expression in detail. It’s the first person (top left) who starts the gossip, and it finally arrives to the man who the gossip is about (we can see him in the last two pairs at the bottom right), who then confronts the person starting the gossip.
Rockwell was a popular illustrator for the Saturday Evening Post, and his real talent was to capture a complex societal issue in a single image. It took him a long time to come up with these brilliant images. In this case, it took him 20 to 30 years to come up with this illustration. But it became very popular, and the painting sold in 2013 for 8.5 million USD.
I will have less of a presence on The Torrid Tribe Community. We have very little activity here. This is a sign to me that members have found other social media resources that they are spending more time in. I am happy to see less censorship on social media in general. I started The Torrid Tribe 4 years ago when we were in a state of censorship and lockdowns. It was a difficult time and this was a haven and sanctuary for so many.
I will be lightly posting things here to give you all content to see. This community will always be open to everyone and will resurrect to its full capacity if subscribers show they want it fully operational again with full time administration.
Thank you for being a part of this community. Sending each of you hugs.
