This country has changed so much. As kids in my family we struggled because our mom was taking care of us kids all by herself. She had way too much pride to go on welfare or get food stamps. WIC wasnt even a thing then

So we would head over to the beach and collect bottles and tin cans and turn them in for money and that is how we supplemented buying our food. I remember picking Flowers and going door-to-door and selling flowers for extra money to pay for food.

I remember having shoes that had holes in the soles and taping them up as best I could because we just didn’t have money for new shoes. I had clothes that were out of era and sometimes the kids at school would make fun of me. I got my first pair of blue jeans when I was 11 years old. My mom used to make all my clothes and to be honest I didn’t like them and they were embarrassing for me.

When I read posts, People just don’t do these things anymore. Also, I remember we didn’t have a lot of options for food. We ate a lot of hotdogs, peanut butter and jelkywith crackers and making quesadillas were pretty cheap back then. I just remember in my generation people who got food stamps, kept it very quiet and they didn’t like people to know about it. Nowadays, people just act like they’re so entitled to get it. I’m sure people who’s reading this might be offended by it and I’m certainly not trying to do that. It just feels like a definitely a different time era.

I personally think SNAP is brought on by special interest corporations like grocery stores and Unions because that pretty much covers at least 70% of the customers. I bet if those food stamps weren’t around grocery stores would not be making as much money.
