🚨 California reporters are sounding the alarm: the One Big Beautiful Bill that President Trump signed in July is about to overhaul SNAP in the state, and it’s hitting every corner of CalFresh.
Here’s what’s coming:
• Work Requirements Are Back — Hard
Every adult 18 to 64 will now have to work, volunteer, or attend job training 80 hours a month.
The old cutoff was 54. That’s gone.
• Refugees & Asylees No Longer Eligible
USDA confirmed California can’t keep them on SNAP anymore. These categories are being phased out nationwide.
• Temporary Protections Ending
Across the country, the following exemptions are being rolled back:
– Homeless individuals
– Veterans
– Young adults leaving foster care (18–24)
• California’s Impact Is HUGE
The state’s own estimate: as many as 395,000 CalFresh recipients could lose eligibility once everything is fully implemented.
• Formula Changes Already Hit Nov 1
Benefit calculations are shifting, which means a lot of people will see their SNAP amounts change even before the work rules kick in.
• CalFresh Scrambling
Counties are warning people to update their contact info so they don’t miss notices.
LA County is even hosting public webinars because the rule changes are that far-reaching.
Bottom line:
This is the biggest tightening of SNAP in decades — and California, with some of the heaviest welfare usage in the country, is about to feel the full force of it.!
I will have less of a presence on The Torrid Tribe Community. We have very little activity here. This is a sign to me that members have found other social media resources that they are spending more time in. I am happy to see less censorship on social media in general. I started The Torrid Tribe 4 years ago when we were in a state of censorship and lockdowns. It was a difficult time and this was a haven and sanctuary for so many.
I will be lightly posting things here to give you all content to see. This community will always be open to everyone and will resurrect to its full capacity if subscribers show they want it fully operational again with full time administration.
