Harold Lloyd was one of the biggest stars of the silent film era, famous for his daredevil comedies, but later in life he became almost equally renowned for the spectacular Christmas trees he erected at his Beverly Hills estate.
Beginning in the 1920s, Lloyd turned decorating the tree into an annual event that involved teams of decorators, custom made ornaments, elaborate lighting, and carefully planned themes, transforming the tree into something closer to a theatrical set than a household decoration. The process took weeks, and the finished tree was so elaborate that it often remained standing until March, delighting guests, friends, and visitors who were invited to view it as part of large holiday gatherings and charity events.
By the 1960s, Lloyd decided to make the tree a permanent fixture of the estate. He reportedly developed a method to fireproof the tree, allowing it to remain safely on display year round, and he took pride in maintaining the fresh pine scent so the experience felt authentic despite its permanence. At its peak, the tree held around 5,000 ornaments, many of them unique or handmade.
I will have less of a presence on The Torrid Tribe Community. We have very little activity here. This is a sign to me that members have found other social media resources that they are spending more time in. I am happy to see less censorship on social media in general. I started The Torrid Tribe 4 years ago when we were in a state of censorship and lockdowns. It was a difficult time and this was a haven and sanctuary for so many.
I will be lightly posting things here to give you all content to see. This community will always be open to everyone and will resurrect to its full capacity if subscribers show they want it fully operational again with full time administration.
Thank you for being a part of this community. Sending each of you hugs.
