Bill Frawley actually picked up the phone and called Desi Arnaz and asked for the part of Fred Mertz. It was no secret in Hollywood about Frawley's drinking. Desi told him, "if you ever show up drunk or smelling of alcohol on the set, you'll be fired." If you look closely, you can see in several episodes his hands shaking due to having withdrawals. He'd sometimes put his hands in his pockets to hide it. Fortunately for Frawley, he kept his word, and from 1951 to 1960 he came to work on I LOVE LUCY and THE LUCY-DESI COMEDY HOUR sober.
BUT......by the time he was on
MY THREE SONS from 1960-1965, he was drinking during working hours. Some of the actors who played the son's to Fred MacMurray on the show would literally have to drag him back to the set after lunch and pour coffee down him in order to shoot his scenes. Strangely enough, William Frawley's lifespan exceeded that of Lucille Ball (77), Desi Arnaz (69) & Vivian Vance (70). When Frawley died on March 3, 1966, he was 79 years old.
The Past few days I’ve been thinking about the anniversary of the loss of my dad back in 2015. It was a pure blessing to take care of him and his final living years. I wanted to show you some of my trees. I’m growing. We have a peach tree, a mango tree, a low quad tree and an avocado tree. And the flower box I’m growing my grape vines which are in their infancy and they’re finishing up their season.
Good morning 😃 the pool is 79 now and it should be 80 in a couple hours so I will be going swimming today. This is probably going to be my last week of swimming because I believe we’re gonna be heading into fall temperatures which bring my pool temperature down. I definitely want to get a pool heater.
I will have less of a presence on The Torrid Tribe Community. We have very little activity here. This is a sign to me that members have found other social media resources that they are spending more time in. I am happy to see less censorship on social media in general. I started The Torrid Tribe 4 years ago when we were in a state of censorship and lockdowns. It was a difficult time and this was a haven and sanctuary for so many.
I will be lightly posting things here to give you all content to see. This community will always be open to everyone and will resurrect to its full capacity if subscribers show they want it fully operational again with full time administration.
